The BTR50-PU is a Soviet-designed Armored Command Vehicle (ACV), developed from the basic BTR50 Armored Personnel Carrier, which in turn was developed from the PT-76 light tank. In service since 1954, the BTR50 family is still in use throughout the world, with some 28 nations having it in their arsenals.

A fully-sealed hull makes the BTR50 amphibious; propulsion while afloat is provided by a pair of steerable hydrojets. The command version, as illustrated by this paper model, is distinguished from the APC by having two "bays" on the glacis (front) for crew vision blocks, and by having oval-shaped hatches in the roof over the command compartment; the troop-carrying version has larger, rectangular hatches. The command compartment can be outfitted with radios and other communications gear, along with a map table and room for a tactical commander and his staff to work.  The rated capacity for the command compartment is ten individuals, while the vehicle crew is two.

Paper Model Details: 42 parts on one page, with written assembly instructions and two diagrams. Individual road wheels (boxed construction), optional simple interior compartment, and layered details. Degree of Difficulty: 3/5. If you enjoy building this paper model, please contribute a review!
