Details

The North American P-51D Mustang may be one of the most recognized and successful Fighter aircraft of all time of all time.  Serving throught WW2 in the European and Pacific theaters, it is still flown today in various evolved configurations.  Powered by an American Packard-built Rolls-Royce Merlin engine, the P-51 proved to be outstandingly fast and maneuverable, with long range extended by the use of drop tanks. The aircraft also excelled as a fighter-bomber, escorting B-17s and B-24s on raids deep into enemy territory.

 

This kit builds Flying Ace Capt. William T Whisner's "Moonbeam McSwine" Mustang of the 487th Fighter squadron (352nd FG) - the famed The Bluenose Bastards of Bodney. Capt Whisner served in both WW2 ETO and  Korean conflicts.

 

Paper Model Details: over 200 parts including detailed construction diagrams, fuselage and wing formers, recessed/detailed wheel wells, detailed landing gear, detailed cockpit, optional template for clear or printed canopy, optional wing pylons, optional drop tanks, detailed graphic textures and realistic weathering/surface features.  Degree of Difficulty: 3/5.
