Details

The North American P-51D Mustang may be one of the most recognized and successful Fighter aircraft of all time of all time.  Serving throughout WW2 in the European and Pacific theaters, it is still flown today in various evolved configurations.  Powered by an American Packard-built Rolls-Royce Merlin engine, the P-51 proved to be outstandingly fast and maneuverable, with long range extended by the use of drop tanks. The aircraft also excelled as a fighter-bomber, escorting B-17s and B-24s on raids deep into enemy territory.

This kit builds Lt. Eugene Sears "American Maid" P-51D which flew its first mission on December 23 1944 and was salvaged at War's end on Sept. 21 1945. Its brightly patriotic noseart is featured on both sides of the aircraft.
