Details

The BMW 2002 is one of the most famous BMW automolbiles, most notably for its racing history.  The 2002 is also the forerunner of the massively successful BMW 3 series.  Created in the early 70s as a result of the urging of the BMW tuning company, Alpina, the 2002 had a larger motor installed in the 1600 chassis for competition.  Alpina raced BMW automobiles successfully  from 1968 to 1977, displaying some very distinctive features such as custom made 20 spoke alloy wheels and a trademarked striping and graphics package.  Alpina modified cars were also available to the public.  Subsequent versions would be finished in the more commonly recognized black paint scheme.

This model depicts the 1974 racing BMW Alpina 2002 in its distinctive white paint scheme.
